LOVE – This little word can be expressed in so many ways.  Do you know that we each have different ways that we need to receive love in order to feel loved?  According to author, Gary Chapman, “the problem is that by nature we tend to speak our own love language.  That is, we express love to others in a language that would make us feel loved.  But if it is not his or her primary love language, it will not mean to them what it would mean to us” (Chapman, 2004).  As relational beings, it is important for us to then know what language those closest to us need to hear love spoken.

Chapman outlines 5 different Love Languages in his book, which include: Words of Affirmation, Gifts, Acts of Service, Quality Time, and Physical Touch.  You can find out what your love language is, but it is also important to know what the people you care about most need to hear from you (what their love language is).  Below is a link to the online assessment you can complete to find out your love language.  Have your loved ones complete it as well.  What a perfect Valentine’s Day gift to give them, the gift of hearing your love expressed for them in just the way they need to hear it!
